New Patient Dentist NYC — Your First Visit Guide
We make your first visit easy. From insurance verification to a free 3D scan, everything is set up before you arrive so your appointment is spent on care — not paperwork.
Your First Visit
What to expect at your first appointment
01
Complimentary 3D CBCT Scan
Every new patient receives a free low-dose cone beam 3D scan. This gives Dr. Shi a precise map of your bone, nerves, and anatomy — the same data used to plan implants and complex treatment.
02
Comprehensive Exam
Dr. Shi or one of our associate dentists will conduct a thorough clinical examination, reviewing your dental history and current concerns before discussing any treatment options.
03
Written Treatment Plan
You will leave with a clear, written treatment plan — including phasing options and estimated costs — before any commitment is made. No pressure, no surprises.
04
Insurance Verified in Advance
We contact your insurance company before your visit to verify your benefits and estimate your out-of-pocket cost. You will know the numbers before you walk in.
What to Bring
Documents for your first visit
Photo ID
A government-issued photo ID (driver's license, passport, or state ID).
Insurance Card
Your dental insurance card, or the name and member ID of your plan. We verify benefits before your visit.
Medical History
A list of current medications, allergies, and any significant medical conditions. We send a digital intake form in advance.
Insurance
We accept most PPO plans
Centre Dental is a non-participating PPO provider, which means we work with most major PPO plans — including Delta Dental, Aetna, Cigna, MetLife, and UnitedHealthcare — and bill your insurance directly.
We verify your specific benefits before your appointment so you know exactly what to expect before you arrive. No surprise bills.
We do not accept Medicaid or most government plans. For patients without insurance, ask about our Membership Plan.
Bilingual Care
English, Mandarin & Cantonese
Dr. Shi, our associate dentists, and our front-desk team speak English, Mandarin, and Cantonese fluently. Your entire care experience — consultations, treatment planning, and follow-up — is available in your language.
We also have a dedicated Cantonese phone line for patients who prefer it:
