Accessibility Statement

Our commitment

Centre Dental NYC is committed to making centredent.com usable by as many people as possible, including patients who rely on assistive technology. We design and test this site with accessibility in mind and treat accessibility feedback the same way we treat a clinical complaint — it gets routed, owned, and fixed. If you are a new patient and need accommodations arranged before your first visit, let us know when you book.

Conformance target

We target conformance with the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.1 at Level AA, published by the W3C. Most pages meet that target; a few areas are partially conformant and are listed below. We also design with the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) Title III and New York State Human Rights Law in mind.

What we have built in

  • Semantic HTML landmarks (header, main, nav, footer) so screen readers can navigate the page structure
  • A skip-to-main-content link at the top of every page
  • Keyboard navigation across all interactive elements, with a visible focus ring
  • Descriptive alt text on meaningful images; decorative images marked as such
  • Text and icon color contrast of at least 4.5:1 against its background (3:1 for large text and UI elements)
  • Logical heading order (one h1 per page, descending levels after)
  • Descriptive link text rather than click here or read more
  • Form fields with associated labels, visible error messages, and programmatic error announcements
  • ARIA roles and labels on custom components where native HTML is not sufficient
  • Responsive layout that supports 200% zoom and reflows on mobile screens without content loss
  • The lang attribute declared on <html> for English and Chinese pages
  • prefers-reduced-motion respected — scroll and fade animations are disabled when the operating system requests reduced motion
  • Captions and transcripts added to video content where available

Known limitations

We want you to know what is not yet fully accessible. We are working on these:

  • Older blog content. Some legacy blog posts authored in our content management system may have inconsistent or missing alt text. We are auditing and backfilling these.
  • Embedded voice widget. The web-call button that connects you to Alex, our voice assistant, relies on a third-party widget. It is reachable by keyboard, but screen-reader support is still being refined with the vendor. If you cannot use the widget, please call the office directly at (212) 925-7066.
  • Chat widget. The Natalie chat interface is keyboard-operable but may not announce every streaming response token in some screen readers. You can always reach a human by email or phone.
  • PDF downloads. Some older PDFs (intake forms, legacy brochures) may not be fully tagged for screen readers. Email accessibility@centredent.com and we will provide an accessible alternative.
  • Studio route. The /studio route is an internal content-editing tool and is not intended for public use; it is not targeted for WCAG conformance.
  • Third-party embeds. Maps, review feeds, and other embedded content may not meet our internal standard. We work with those providers when their tooling blocks us from remediating directly.

Physical accessibility

Our office at 139 Centre St, Suite 306 is in a building with elevator access to Suite 306. If you need a specific accommodation for your visit — assistance from the curb, a sign-language interpreter, extended appointment time, or a quieter room — let the front desk know when you book. We will plan for it. You can also reach us through our contact page before your appointment.

Assessment approach

We use a combination of automated tooling (axe, Lighthouse), manual keyboard testing, and screen-reader spot checks (VoiceOver and NVDA) during development. We plan to schedule an independent third-party audit after the new site's DNS cutover.

Feedback and accommodation requests

If you run into an accessibility barrier on this site, or if you need information in an alternative format, please contact us. We aim to respond within five business days. For our full data-handling practices, see our Privacy Policy.
